Globeville

Probably the most surprising ‘hood to be hip is Globeville. It’s centered around and underneath the intersection of Colorado’s 2 busiest highways, I-25 and I-70. You might not have know that this Denver neighborhood is represented in Denver’s City Seal. The tall smokestack, depicts the smelting industry era centered in the city of Globeville.

Despite this concrete jungle of congestion overhead, there are a number of cool places to live and visit. It’s a little tricky to find, but if you do, stop by for a beer in one of its cozy bars and restaurants.

Barnum

Although there's not much room for development in Barnum (yes, as in PT Barnum of circus lore), this working-class neighborhood bounded by Sixth Avenue to the north, Federal Boulevard to the east, Alameda Avenue to the south and Perry Street to the west. And, though the city of Denver draws a distinction between Barnum and Barnum West, residents consider it all to be one neighborhood, which extends the western boundary to Sheridan Boulevard. However, as the city expands, Barnum is close to everything (read: location! location! location!) — Athmar Park, Baker, Cap Hill, etc. Prices are affordable, making this neighborhood a great investment.

Athmar Park

This quiet neighborhood in west Denver has become one of the most popular places for first-time home buyers to move.

Easy access to downtown, relatively low housing prices, several parks and a strong community are just a few of the things that have drawn more and more young couples and families to Athmar Park in recent years.

All while, at least so far, avoiding any large gentrification.

The Denver neighborhood is bounded by West Alameda to the north, South Platte River Drive to the east, West Mississippi Avenue to the south and South Federal Boulevard.
